Therapies Offered. Free Consultation - Green

Reiki is a natural healing energy, which is non invasive and aims to treat you holistically and restore homeostasis. Kim Bromley offers reiki treatments in Eastbourne, East Sussex, Maidstone and Ashford in Kent. Energy is channeled via the hands which are placed on or over you.

The energy helps to activate the body’s natural balance of the body/mind/spirit complex and goes to wherever it is needed. Blocked energy can be released, cleansing toxins, working to create a state of balance.

Reiki can engender a greater inner harmony and balance with regular reiki sessions being reported as promoting a calmer response to life’s challenges. Benefits reported by clients and patients include deep relaxation.

Reiki’s gentle energy is easily adapted to most medical conditions and may be safely used by people of all ages, including the newborn, surgical patients, the elderly, those in pain, individuals undergoing cancer treatment and end of life.
Being complementary, reiki works well effectively alongside orthodox healthcare as well as natural remedies which expands treatment options.

Reiki is not an alternative to conventional medicine.

Reiki is a type of energy healing that was developed in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui.
Metaphysics has proven that we live in a world of energy that nourishes and maintains all living things. When this energy flows uninterrupted there is balance and harmony within and around us, and we experience a sense of well being.

There are many variations of Reiki, but in essence Reiki treatments can help the body to rebalance, restore and renew. It is a tradition that is open to any belief system.

Reiki treatment is a process that anyone can enjoy in the normal course of their life. Reiki can be used alongside other conventional or complementary treatment and often helps to provide emotional support during recovery.

The practice is taught by Reiki masters / teachers who have trained in the tradition passed on in person from master to student.

A reiki practitioner will use light touch which aims to change and balance the energy fields in and around your body.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese healing art that was developed by Dr Usui in Japan in the early 20th century. It is pronounced ray-key.
The Japanese word Reiki means universal energy. Eastern medicine systems work with this energy, which flows through all living things and is vital to well being. The energy is known as 'Ki' in Japan, 'Chi' in China and 'prana' in India. Reiki isn't part of any type of religion or belief system. It is best described as a form of hands on healing used as a complementary therapy.
A Reiki practitioner aims to change and balance the energy fields in and around your body to help on a physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual level.
What happens during a reiki session?
On your first visit, Kim will ask you about your general health and medical history to create a bespoke holistic plan.
You don’t have to get undressed for treatment. Ideally comfortable clothes are worn. The treatment often takes place on a therapy couch with soft blanket and cushions for support. Gentle music may play, which is suitable to support the energy rebalancing. Neal’s Yard aromatherapy oils can be used with the aromatherapy diffuser. You can have your eyes open or closed.
Hands will be a few inches above your body, usually starting at your head and working down to your feet, but may focus on particular areas of the body.
The aim is to balance the energy within and around your body. And to release any energy blocks to encourage physical healing and strengthen your energy.
Some clients may feel a tingling sensation, a deep relaxation, or warmth or coolness throughout your body. Or, you might not feel anything at all, but that doesn’t mean the treatment isn’t working.
A session usually lasts up to 50 minutes. A one off session may be sufficient. Many practitioners report that best results may be from 3 sessions within a fairly short space of time. Then take a break before having more treatments. Kim works with each client to ensure the best possible care is given for each person.
It is best to avoid strong caffeine based drinks, such as coffee as well as alcohol before and immediately after the session and drink lots of water.
You might feel deeply relaxed, and resting at home afterwards can help you get the full benefit of the treatment.

Why people with cancer use it
Reiki practitioners report that reiki can promote and:

help you to feel deeply relaxed

help you cope with difficult situations

relieve emotional stress and tension

help to improve overall wellbeing
Some people with cancer say they feel better after using therapies such as Reiki. Studies show that this is often because a therapist spends time with the person, and touches them.
After the rush and stress of hospitals and treatment, it can be very relaxing when someone gives you attention for an hour or more, in a calm setting. Reiki is sometimes used in palliative care, especially in hospices.
Some people say that Reiki has helped to control side effects of their cancer treatments, such as pain, anxiety and sickness.
They also say that it helps them cope better with their cancer and its treatment. But it’s important to bear in mind that while Reiki may help you to cope with your symptoms or side effects, it is not able to treat your cancer.
Side effects
Generally speaking, Reiki is safe for most people with cancer. Most practitioners will advise you to rest and drink plenty of water after treatment. There are no reports of harmful side effects.
It is safe to have Reiki alongside your cancer treatment. But it’s important to tell your doctor about any complementary therapy, alternative therapy or diet supplement that you use. Then your doctor will always have the full picture about your care and treatment.

Reiki research evidence to reduce stress?
Medical researchers at the University of Texas conducted a number of studies to assess the effectiveness of reiki to increase relaxation and reduce stress. Preliminary results showed that anxiety and blood pressure levels were reduced, suggesting a heightened state of relaxation in patients treated with reiki.
Another study, conducted in 2004 at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, South Glasgow University hospital, divided 45 patients into three groups of patients: one group was given reiki, the control group were given rest, and the third were given a placebo treatment, which mimicked the movements of reiki. It found that heart rate and blood pressure decreased significantly in the reiki group compared to both the placebo and control groups.
Research into Reiki for people with cancer
There is no scientific evidence to prove that Reiki can prevent, treat or cure cancer, or any other disease.
However many healthcare professionals accept Reiki as a useful complementary therapy which may help lower stress, promote relaxation and reduce pain.
A word of caution
Remember that Reiki cannot cure your cancer.
It is a complementray therapy that aims to help support you during your cancer treatment. It can help with your general well being.

Chakradance in Ashford & Eastbourne

CHAKRADANCE™ is a healing movement practice. It uses spontaneous dance, to specific chakra-resonant music, for the purpose of healing – releasing old, stuck, emotional ‘blocks’, and re-tuning your whole energy system. There is no right or wrong way to chakradance. It’s a journey of self-discovery. Think of it as a ‘moving meditation to music’… or as ‘the musical sister of yoga’ (without the set-piece poses or asanas).
Each chakra is explored through specific music, guided imagery and your own free, improvised dance, done in a candle-lit space with your eyes softly closed. This begins to activate inner experiences. It’s almost like entering into a beautiful waking dream. You may see images in your mind’s eye while you are dancing or gain insights. You may also experience feelings, emotions or physical sensations.
Each class concludes with participants creating a personal mandala artwork, to help ‘anchor’ their experience and for their own personal use in reflecting on the class in the following days.
Chakradance puts you in touch with the sacred within yourself. It helps you re-connect with your own soul, unique and beautiful.
Dancing the seven chakras is like dancing into seven different worlds, seven different facets of your whole self, each with their own lessons, meanings and stories. As a practice, it helps you to feel more balanced, more joyful, and to radiate your own true colours out into the world.
